A record meeting of railwaymen wis held nt Wliaugarei lust night, when tho following resolution was passed: "That lliis meeting of railwaymen emphatically protests against tho provisions of tho "Railway Bill, and calls, for nil M.IVs to support tho execntivo in opposing it. Much' feeling was shown at tho meeting. Wanganui, October 24. A meeting of tho Wanganui branch ot the A.S.R.S. considered the Railways Amendment Bill, and tho following resolution was passed: "That wo strongly support our executive in requests maao for increased wages for .the second division, and in the event of refusal wo ui-go tho executive to arrange ■ btapwork meetings, abandon Parliamentary notion, and immediately link "l> witn outside Labour organisations. We also tako exception to thp big increases granted to highly-paid officers on tho evo of retirement, while the rank and tile of both divisions are unable to secure the necessaries of life." v Invercargill, October 20. Tho Southland branch of the Engineers. Firemen, and Cleaner-;' Association passed a resolution strongly protestinggainst tho absence of provision in the Hallway Mil to improve the position of locomotive men, and demanding tho elimination of the special grade of engineers, iiiilin|i wihieh the executive should lake delimitsteps to carry out the niandato of the re cent ballot.
