The Talyo Maru, from Kobe, arrived in tile stream early yesterday morning, .and berthed at the Queen's Wharf, alter being granted pratique, «t noon, Tho Talyo. Maru left Kobe, where slio loaded, on September 27, and cauio dircct to Wellington. Hhe had a line trip till oil' tho North Queensland coast, where she ran into strong winds for about a week. After that the weather was One right up to her arrival at Wellington. The vessel ha« 1600 tons of cargo to put out at Wellington, and Blie will go on to Melbourne and Sydney next Wednesday. Captain I. Terasaka is in command,-Tho Taiyo Maru is a steel screw steamer of 2657 tons (gross), and was built in 1896 at Glasgow. The Magic is duo to-day from Sandy Bay with a load of stone. On Wednesday next sho .will go to Nclbou with a locomotive, and then on to Sandy Bay again, Tho Hineinoa is to go out to the southern lighthouses at-9 am. on Thursday next. Mr. W. Graham, second engineer of tho Calm, has signed off. The Baden Powell is due from Wanganui on Tuesday, and on Wednesday will load for New Plymouth. Tho Westmoreland will bo starting at Port Chalmers in a few days to reload the general cargo unloaded from her before she went into dock for repairs. Next week she will probably commence taking in frozen produce. Messrs. Reese Bros.' steamer Opilii was expected to arrivo at Singapore last week from Calcutta. She will load at Singapore for Australia and New Zealand. The Union Company's cargo tteamer Whangape, whioh left Auckland -on Ootobcr 7, arrived at Papeete on Saturday morning last. The Tarawera. Is still undergoing overhaul and repairs at Auckland, and tho end of the work is not yet in sight. The vessel's overhaul has been delayed considerably by a shortago of boilcrmak. ors. No definite dato can yet be announced as to when tho Tarawera will bo ready to take up her running in the new cargo service between Sydney, Bluff, and Dunedin. , Tho Union Company s Island steamer Talune, at present doing her final trip in the- Fiji-Samoa-Tonga rnu, 10 expected to leave Suva for Auckland on Wednesday next. /It is understood that after returning to Auckland she will be dispatched to Suva for a cargo ot sugar.
