SERIOUS CHARGES
'By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent. Palmorston North, October 24. Further charges were preferred against Charles James Cockery in the Magistrate's Court at Palmerslon North this morning. Accused was recently beforo tho Court, and remanded without bail on a charge of having attempted to procure persons to murder Detective Quirke. The charges on which accused was arraigned to-ftnv were:—(l) That ajjout September IG. 1910. he received goods to the value of 125., the property of Alfred Levy, when he well knew that the goods had been dishonestly obtained; (2) that about September 13, 1919, at Palrnerstan North, he did counsel Henry Joseph Lewis to break and enter, the shop'of Alfred Levy and steal goods to tho value of XG 12s. On tho application of Senior-Sergeant Fraser a remand until Tuesday, October 28. was urantetf. Mr. 0. Moore represented accused. He applied for bail, which was refused.
