Tho croquet season was opened hero on Wednesday afternoon, when there was a very larjfc attendance, and some interesting play resulted, llr. and Mrs. Goldfinch have placed their lawns at the dispw.il of the club, and tho greens am in exvilcnt order. Several Woodvillo settlors havo purchased properties in tho north of Auckland, and intend moving there shortly to rcsiilo. It is understood that several other farmers from this district havo also been attracted by glowing reports of (he country >n tin: far north, mid intend going ii]) 'there shortly to spy out Ihe land.
