ALLEGATIONS AGAINST DR. GILRUTH THE VESTY MEAT TRUST -\ By Tolegraph-Presß Association-Copyright Sydney, October 23. In connection with Senator FerrlckVstatcment in tho Senate that tho Darwin IroubfQ was caused by tho "general belief that Dr. ilruth was interested in tho Vesty Meat Trust, and that Mr. Carey , and other officials were appointed on Dr. Gilnith's advice, and that they were equally interested, Mr. Arnold, solicitor for Vcsty Brothers, stated' that tho suggestion that Ilr. Gilruth, or any other Government official in tho Northern Territory is, or was, interested in the firm of Vcsty Brother, or tho North Australian Meat Company, was Also, ho denied the inferences that tho Vcsty Company was connected with tho American 'Meat Trust. It was wholly British, and was not connected with any trust or combine. In tho Houso of Representatives the Minister for U.onio Affairs, replying to questions regarding tho Port Darwin episode', said that Dr. ilruth asked for "> eleven months' holiday and was granted 6ix months. Ho was' still drawing lijs salftry and house allowance'as Adminis<. trator. Ho was now in England, where '"* he was doing certain work for tho Customs Dcpartanent.—PiVss Assn.
