HEARING OF EVIDENCE CONCLUDED. By Tolograph—Preea Auoclatlun. Christchurch, October 23. The nautical inquiry into the loss of tho T'ainui was. continued to-dny, when tlie last, witness was reached. Mr. 0. Campbell, assistant manager for the New Zealand lictrigerating Company, gave evidence as to correspondence with the Marine Department regarding the daylight sailing regulations. Instruct ions were given lo captains that (he danger area must not be crossed in darkness, even it meant delaying a vescvoyage. Captain Williamson apparently sailed on a certain dan?, contrary lo the company's ordtrs 'Had he refused to sail, his action would have been upheld, and tho branch ollicer who gave Iho order would have been called to account. Witness was not nwnro that tho captain of tho Jlana had violated the daylight sailing regulations on several occasions. Counsel will address the Court to-mor-row,
