STAItTTJNG DISCOVERY IN A STEAMER'S HOLD. By Telegraph-Press esociation. Gisborne, October 21. Mr. M'Lea,y, manager of the 'Richardeon Company, reports that the steamer Awahou took from Auckland 465 cases of benzine, and when tho last of theso was being unloaded yesterday at the bottom of the hold a pnpflr box of wax vestus was found wedged in between two cases. Mr. M'Leay states that fortunately the vessel had an exceptii/i« rII.v smooth passage. Had she been labouring and the carpi moving it was auito possible there would have been another Tainui disaster.
