BRITISH PARLIAMENT REASSEMBLING
LIYELY SESSION AHEAD
DEPLORABLE FINANCIAL OUTLOOK Rv 'Un -viph—Press Associationy Copyright (Rec. October 20. 10.. i p.m.) London, October 19. Wednesday's reassembling of Parliament focuses attention upon the deplorable financial outlook. The tirstsix months of the financial year show a deficit exceeding £112,000,000. The Government will be bombarded with questions relating to retrenchment. A vast number have already been tabled. Mr. Ansten Chamberlain's renh- to several questions asking whether intends to introduce a Supplementary Budget is awaited with keen interest, particularly in view of strong business and I railing objections to such a course. It is understood that Mr. Lloyd George will readily respond to a demand for u debate on the whole question of economy, nnd also that he intends to promise a speedy return to the constitutional system of Cabinet control of expenditure.— Tt is generally admitted that the Government's position has been greatly strengthened owing to Its firm handling of the strike, but members are returning from (heir constituencies de«nly impressed with the widespread indignation at the Government's failure to oheck Departmental extravagance. The autumn silling promises a record numb°r of highly-controversial Government Bills, dealing with the constitution of the ioint industrial council, maximum hours. State pur»bi3e of nrnni'.n] rieht.s, prevention of dumping, protection of key industries, and others, irliile the nrecnt necess. My of settling the Irish problem "ives an aih.li-tio-uil prospect of a lively session.—Aus.N. 51.
