New ■ r for some time, and received asKsistauce and accommodation from tho bank that tho Government is-interested in to the extent of ,£2,000,000." Mr. !; Johnstone said he never mentioned the ' figure of two millions in connection with the trust. The figures he mentioned : -were .i2a0,000. Tho only time two rnillions Vere mentioned was when' he replied to a question whether ho favoured ; ' a State Bank. Ho said tlmt at the prei ,'6ent time the Government held two millions in tho Bank of New Zealand, and might as well acquire the balance, and inake a State bank of it.
