RETURNED SOLDIERS' DISPUTE
AUCKLAND AND HEADQUARTERS.
When the conference of the Now Zealand Returned Soldiers' Association resumed on Saturday afternoon, referenco was again made to th'e dispute between, the Auckland association nnd headquarters over the matter of funds for organisation purposes I Mr. T. 1\ C. Walsh (Tiinaru) gave notice of motion that the resolution passed with referenco to the dispute between the Auckland association and headquarters be rescinded, and that the terms. of settlement be divulged to conference. ' Mr. E. W. Leodley (Christchurch): Would the mover bo prepared to add to his motion "and without discussion"? Mr. JValsh: No, certaiiily not. Mr. T.- Long (Auckland) said he did not anticipate the resolution. He had intended to move the recommittal of tho whole matter for the purposo of endeavouring ..to find a solution of the difficulty so that the delegates might know exactly' what happened. ' He had stated the previous day that, so far as he was personally concerned, he did not caro ono iota who knew about the finding from the North Cape to the Bluff.
Mr. D. Colquhoun (Dunedin) rose to a point of ordo?. Until the motion passed the, previous night had been rescinded lie did not see how any discussion could be allowed. Mr. A. B. Sievwright (Wellington),-. The feeling of the meeting is that the question sh'ould be reopened. Mr. R. J..F. Aldrich (treasurer): That is a question for the chairman to decide. Mr. Long moved, and Mr. V. Potter (Auckland) seconded, that the matter be recommitted. The president said that if the matter was to bo reopened then there must be no discission. Mr. C. W. /Batten (viec-prcsidont) moved that Mr. Long's motion be taken at once. 'Mr. Long said that in deference to the wishes of the conference he did not desire that tho matter should 1m reopened, ijomo of : the delegates, however, were, afraid that they would not. be, able to give their associations a correct statement of the position. Aftor sonio further discission Mr. Long's motion was_ carried, and the conference then went into committee to consider the situation further. When the conference resumed in the evening, Mr. Walsh intimated that he desired to withdraw his notice of motion, and permission to do so was granted.
