' Blenheim, October 17. • Charles Albert Basse appeared to-day at the Mhgiscratc'ti Court to answer a charge of manslaughter arising out. of the death of George O'Leary, at the Wairuu Valley Hotel, on Saturday evening last., Evidence was given similar to that given at the 'coroner's inquiry. No new"tacts .were adduced by the prosecution. The police put in a statement made by tile accused,' lii which, ho said that deceased had made an insulting expression, lo him. Accused struck him. Deceased took olf his coat, and struck at accused* who struci; back. Deceased fell, striking his head on a form, arid x never regained consciousness Accused was committed for trial, reserving his defence. Bail was allowed.
