Vice-Regal. The Governor-General, Lord Liverpool, and Lady Liverpool paid a farewell visit to the Wanganui district yesterday. The funeral of the late Mr. Charles Robinson, custodian of Parliament Buildings, look place yesterday, and' was attended by a most representative gathering of prominent citizens. Parliament wiis represented by tho Speaker of the Legislative Council (Hon. 'W. F. C. Carncross), tho Sneaker of the House of Representatives (Sir Frederick Lnng), the Prime Minister (the Right Hon. W. F, Massey), tho Leader of tlm Legislative Council (Sir Francis Dell), Ministers of the Crown, the Leader of the Opposition (Sir Joseph Ward), ' members from all sides of both Houses, the Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke), and members of the City Council. Officers of both House? of Parliament wore present, ■ and Mr. Robinson's personal staff from Bellamy's acted as pall-bearers. The three sons of Mr. Robinson wero the chief mourners. Floral tributes were received from all parts of tho country, and at the cemetery a great crowd of people was present to take part in tho last rites. The funeral service was conducted by tho Rev. A, Reader, of the Thorndon'Methodist Church. Tho Rev. John Steele has cancelled his acceptance of a call to the Ellerslio Presbytorian Church, owing to ill-health contraoted on active eervico.
