INDUSTRIAL COUNCILS
BRITISH SCHEME LN DANGER.
(Rec. October 15, 10.10 p.m.) London, October 15. The "Daily Exnress" stales that the National Industrial Council scheme is in danger owing to the Labour members presenting the Government with an ultimatum demanding the reconsideration of the decision to exclude agricultural workers from the Forty-eight Hours Bill. The decis'on was made without consultation of either the masters or the men o' , the Industrial Council. Indeed, th« Employers' Council agrees to the dcmnml for the reversal of the decision. As the Government is adamant, the Labour members have called a meeting for fo-morrnn- (o decide whether the whole scheme will V droped. The moderate liVmir members are genornlly anxious regarding the outlook, especially as it was hoped that one result of the railway strike would have be-sn to make the unions anxiou* to test the Industrial Council scheme. If it collapses it will mean that tin: chance , ! of i> great, forward industrial movement on constitutional line.? and in direct collaboration with tlio emnlnycrs will be endangered.— Ahs.-N.7i.
