CALL FOR STABILISATION IN BRITAIN
THE RAILWAY SETTLEMENT (By Telezraph-Prcss Association-Copyrinlit (Kec. October 15, 8.15 p.m.) London, October 11. The Government hns resumed negotiations with tho railwiiytncn in accordanco with the terms of the strike settlement. Mr. Cramp (Union) is of opinion that the negotiations will bo carried o'l with the utmost harmony. Mr. Clynes (Labour M.P.) consider* that tho next three months will bn the decisive period in industrial reconstruction. Tho workers lire clearly pressing for the stabilisation of the staiidimls of national life and are determined that wages shall not rwcilc to 1 lie pre-war level. Mr. Clynes believes that the Government and' other employers can be induced to grant the new standard. He urges that a joint council should be developed out of the existing bodies as the best medium of mediation mid conciliation. The isaue must shortly be faced—'whether problems are to lie smoothly solved, or tho country is to be plagued* with an endless serins of industrial crises.
