KARORI BOROUGH AFFAIRS

(MEETING OP THE COUNCIL. The fortirghtly meeting of the Karon Borough Council was held last evening, the Mayor (Air. B. G. 11. Burn) presiding, and there were present: Councillors J. Caughley, 13. Harrison, T. A. Mimt, L. G. Porter, K. I. Tingey, J. C. Fulton, J. Burns, and P. F. Laurciisni. The circular of the Eastbourne Borough Council with respect to the Definition of Time Bill, which has been before the several local bodies, was read, as was also the AVaihi Borough Council's circular with respect to the prohibition of the export of timber, wero "received." A prognvs report' by the Mangahao Hydro-Electric Power League, covering the results of the interview a deputation fiom the League had with the Minister for Public AVorks on September 30, and which lias already been published, was received. Tho Sailors' Friend Society was grantoil the use of Karon Park for a picnic to bo held on Labour Day.

At. the Commencements banquet the' Lord-Lieutenant oflreland, replying to a. toast, paid u fine tribute to Dublin University for tho work which it accomplished in connection with the war. Ho mentioned tho fact that Trinity College Kave over three thonsnnd men to the services, of whom four hundred laid down their lives.
