Arrived.—Waitomo (2 p.m), from Newcastle. THE WHANGARRATA The British India steamer Whangarrata, which is at Auckland, is on her maiden voyage. She was completed at the Glasgow yards early in July, and sailed for hotwood, Newfoundland, cn July 16. The Atlantic voyage was without incident, and the vessel's aver;,go. 1 speed was 116 tnots. From Botwood the Whangarrata went to . Montreal, and reraainea Ithero, taking in cargo from August 7 to August 26. She then sailed for the Panama Canal. She left Panama on September 13, and though she experienced very cold weather the Pacific run was witnout incident. . The Whangarrata is one of the finest 'essels in .the British India Line, Her tonnage is ■ 7837 gross, and she is the largest insulated vessel in the service. Her i.imenoions are: Length, 4CUft.;.beam, 58ft., 'and she has a. capacity for 130,0 ft) carcasses of mutton. She has tho new cruiser stem, and is fitted with twin screws. ller maximum speed is 16 knots; service IZ.
