Parry, of Masterton, Is returning to Now Zealand by tho Ruahine. , Owing to the indisposition of tho eeoretary, Mr. A. E. Prentice, there was no meeting of tho Claims Board of tno Wairarapa .Patriotic Association yester-much-debated question of secondary education was tho subject of a _ S P°'' cial meeting of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust held after the ordinary meeting. The chairman (Mr. Daniell) 'reviowed tho many obstacles ho had had to contend with in endeavouring to get a high school for Masterton. He had received anonymous letters on the subject. There had been n great deal of discussion and word-splitting orer what type of school was cseded. The speaker had offered a si to for the erection of IV school, which the Government had thought fit to accept. But he would prefer that the fact of his gift should not influence tho Trust in any decision it might come to, Tho secretary Tead a resolution passed by a meeting of combined Wairarapa school committees favouring a vocational high school, to 'bo erected on cither of two sites mentioned. Mr. E. G. Eton said that he personally favoured- tho Trust property known «s tho fish ponds site, which comprised 42 acres, 26 of which would be immediately available for the school. Mx. D. Caselberg said that the matter had approached a .critical and should be dealt with carefully. It would l>e' a big step forward if the Trust offered the fish ponds site to the Education Department. Mr, Krnhagen thought that it was not advisable or propor for • them to enter into negotiations with any other body, as , they had already dealt with tlio Technical School managers. His own opinion was that the farm near the fißh ponds was most suitable. Mr. E. G. Eton moved, and Mr. Cfiselberg seconded the motion, "That tho trustees aro prepared to negptiato in tho terms of tho Trust* Lands Trust Act regarding section -—, for the right of occupation for the establishment of a high school." Tho motion wiis passed. A further motion was passed referring tho representative;! of tho school committees _ to tho Technical School managers, in whose hands was the responsibility for tho negotiations regarding tho high school. MANAWATU After cold weather during last week there was lovely sunshino for the weekend, aud .things aro beginning to look much better so far as feed is concerned, although up to the present there has not been much substance in tho grass. Both cattlo and 6heep are in very backward condition, rnoro especially dairy herds nnd owes. There was a fairly big loss of early lambs, but the later, ones a]>near to bo doing very well. llt is evident that, the larmers in this district havo taken to heart the lesson they learned last year, when no provision wfia made for winter feed for the stock. Appearances go to show that every effort is being mado to prevent their being caught napping again. Moro land is being turned over than has ever been the case in tho history of tho Manawatu before, and the bulk of it will be utilised for tho purpose of providing feed for next winter. In most cases the early sown oats are looking very backward. Tho ties for tho M'Hardy Golf Cup wero completed on Saturday, and resulted in a win for R. P. Abraham. Tho scores were: R. P. Abraham, 86—11—75; C. Smith, 96—1(5—80; R. Pavitt, 92—8—84; E. G.
