'The average is about 9 tons of cane to one ot sugar, and it sometimes was as high as 14. Mr. II." T. Eaßterby, fcneral superintendent of tho Queensland ugar Bureau, states that in the northern districts generally the percentage of sugar in the cane is very high. Good rains in North Queensland jiavo much improved the prospects for the next season by giving the young plants a. good start.
