SCIENTISTS IN THE ANTARCTIC
COPE EXPEDITION PLANS. London, October 11. The plans for Dr. John Cope's Antarctic expedition include commercial exploration, especially a search for coal, gold, ami preciou6 stones; the exploration of mountains, and the circumnavigation of the Antarctic continent. Mr. Ernest Joyce will be •ii'iond in command, and Mr, ; Hu"lev will net i'.s filiotograplier! The equipment .will include an aeroplane. Dr. Cope declares, that the climate is more favourable and the commercial possibilities greater than in Kloudyke or Siberia. The lato Captain Scott's ship has been acquired for the expedition.— "The Times." '
