JOCKEYS' ASSOCIATION

At a meeting of the executive of the Nciv Zealand Jockeys' Association a. discussion took place regarding the status of the profession in the Dominion. Speakers made it evident that they wished to raise the status of the profession generally in public opinion. They claimed that for years past jockeys had iiot held the position in New Zealand to which they felt they were entitled. liesolutions were passed taking the strongest exception to the statements of Jfr. Ij. M. Tsitt, !!,]?., in Parliament, to the effcct that the' racecourse was a "nest of blackguards." Copies of the resolutions are to bo sent to the chairman of the Eacing Conference and the chairman of the Auckland Eacing Club.
