' » A remarkable case of the ; return of memory, following hypnotism was related by Dr. William Brown at a joint conferenco of. the Aristotelian Society, the British Psychological' Society, and tho (Mind Association, at Bedford College, Regent's Park, recently. , The case was tliafc of a gunner 'knocked out" at Yprea two yens ago. Ha regained tho, power of speech (which he had lost in- consequence of h!s experience), but ono symptom—a tremWing of'the right and all ho could remember of the incident wag tho fact that lie- was knocked out. . Recently, said Dr. Brown, he hypnotised the man. and told Mm to go through' the incident at Ypres. Tho gunnei', therefore,- shouted to another man (using- strong language): "What do you mean by nulling tho — pin out of that — fuse?" The shells were evidently getting nearer ayd nearer to him. ; Ho was laying the gun, turning the handlo with his right hand, and another man, who hod evidently quite lost his.liead, was providing him witli ammunition. When the gunner eamo to, the .'trembling .of the arm had stopped completely, wid next morning ho vrae to shave himself for the first time for two years. Further, lie was ablo to remember the whoile of tho incident at Yprea.
At Melford Blacc. Long Melford. Suffolk. Messrs. John Thornton and Co., of London, sold the herd of British Friesian cattle belonging to Mr, C. H. Westropp, wbich was one of the biggest milking herds in England. The soil© of 77 head brought their owner a total of 6504 guinoas, an average of nearly jG9O each.
