WHO GETS THE COAL MONEY?
Just' how British Labour gets the lion's share of the expense of getting coal for tho community is explained officially as follows:—In the year to end on July 16, 1920, it is estimated that 192,'000,000 tons will be raised, at a cost of .£281,500,C00. Of this labour takea .£210,2-50,000— nearly three-quarters. Other expenses are:— Timber and stores 31,500,000 Oilier' costs 13,000,000 Royaltios 0,000,000 Owners' profits 12,500,000 Compensation to owners for working under tho instructions of tho Controller of 1 Coal Mines, which would not otherwise 1)0 worked 3,000,000 Cost of Coal Mines Department 1,000,000 Margin for emergencies 1,000,000_ Tho wholesale coal dealers are sbll working on their pre-war margin, whicn allows tliem a profit of id. to Gd. a ton.
