Amendments to the law
BENEFITS EXTENDED The.. Discharged Soldiers' Settlement Amendment Bill .which was introduced in the House last night provides for the resumption of'land administered by a land board held under leaso or license for settlement' by soldiers. On resumption ' of the land the holder of the license or lease shall "be entitled to compensation for the, unexpired period)'of his leaEe and : also . to''compensation-, for his improvemania,';and I 'for his interest in the unexportion of his lease. . .' The benefits 'of financial assistance . which belong' to the soldier settler . for ... the'purp'bso' of enabling him to carry on ..his farming operations , are under certain • circumstances to bo. extended to tho 'widow or near relatives of the soldier inthe,event.of'his death. .Assistance, it.is . proposed, may be given to soldiers on the i of lands held by. them under lease. . ' * ' v Tho right to acquire land under. the special legislation affecting discharged soldiers is -extonded to toldiers' not yet discharged, an<l to the widow of a sol- : dier who sewed overseas. Tho boneflw ot all repatriation legislation are extended to includi members . of Army Nursing Service who have . served 'Abroad or who liavo .been, held in' - Now Zealand-'for instruction ■ purposes.
