(Special, Correspondent.) Masterton,"October G. On Sunday evening about 8.15 a fire broke out in tlio residence of Mr. Henry Smith at the lower end of Rine Street, Masterton. The outbreak, the cause of which is a mystery, soon got a good hold, and it was only after strenuous efforts on tho part of the fire brigade that tho building was Gaved from being entirely gutted. The house was insured with the Victoria insurance office for J2500 and the furniture for JJ2OO.
