6 __ A LONG SENTENCE. , Br Tolocraph.—l'rnsß Annotation. Auckland, October 4. At the Supreme Court at Auckland, John Joseph Donnelly, on t-,vo charges of assault, with intent to commit, rape, and one charge of indecent assault at Matiere, was sentenced to seven years' hard labour on each charge, the sentences to be concurrent. Frederick Ware, on a charge of embezzling ,£278 of the funds of four King Country bodies, of which he. had been tho clerk, was ordered to eomo up for sentence when called upon, subject to his good behaviour. • An order was made that he is not to enter hotels or indulga ; n drink for three years. . It was stated that accused had. mado partial restitution, and was iu poor health.
