GREAT DROUGHT IN NEW SOUTH WALES
WORST FOR FORTY YEARS.
Sydney, October 4. The "Svdnev Morning Herald" states that three-quarters of the State is in the throes of the worst drought experienced for forty -years. It suggests that tlw Government shouM assist by importing largo stock* of .fodder from New Zealand. At one station in the north recontlv, the owners cut tho throats of SOOO good'wethers to save them from dying of starvation. The paper estimates that the losses to date amount to 20 per cent, of the total stock in the State.— Press Assn.
