CENSURE OF A REFEREE
DECISION OP AUCKLAND HOCKEY ASSOCIATION. By Telograph—l'rn»« Xeaoclatlon Auckland, October 2. Following upon consideration of the resolutions' passed by .the Auckland Referees' Association. Inst night, the Auckland Hockey Association to-night resolved: "That this association is. convinced that the resolutions passed by the Canterbury Association, as reported by the Press Associatidn, reflecting on tho capabilities of Mr. L, C. Kent; the referee nominated by Auckland for the Shield match with Canterbury, are absolutely unjustified; this association deplores the unjust and discourteous action of Canterbury in passing such resolutions, and sincerely regrets that an insult should have been .thus .tendered to a gentleman of, Mr. Kent's standing, proved ability, and integrity; this association also feels that in tho true interests of the game such unsportsmanlike conduct is,inexcusable, and therefore refuses to. play further matches against Canterbury Association teams until such time as tho resolutions in question aro unreservedly withdrawn and an amplo apology is tendered in writing to Mr. Kent by tho Canterbury Association."
! At the meeting a telegram was received from the Wellington Referees' Association supporting the Auckland Referees' Association in' its action.
