Ilawera branch, report as follows:-At Kakaramea on September 22, we held our fortnightly dairy sale, when we offered an average yarding to a. good attendance of buyers. Good springing heifers, £15 to £20; others, £9 103. to £12; dairy cows, close up, £23 10s. At Opunake <9 the same day we had, a good, yarding.of stoci;, which met with n ready sale. We aiiote:—Store cows. £6 to £8 155.; yearling heifers, £2 17s. 6d.; yeaiUng steers, £3;' Jersey-cross yearling heifers, £5 to £7 155.; springing heifers, £12 to £14 155.; backward and small sorts, £7 to £9. At M.inaia on September 23 wcaner pigs made £119s. to £2 Is.; medium stores, £3 10s.; young sows ill pig. £5 10s.; store cows, £o 10s.; springing heifers, £10 ss, to £10 10s. At Waveriey on September 25 we liad a, fair yarding, and report the following prices:-Three ami four-year forward Hillocks (mixed colours), £13 7s 6d.; twoyear, empty heifers, £6 45.; Btorc cows, £7 l*.to,£ 7 3s. 6d.; twenty-months steers, mixed colours, £5; hoggets, £1 9s. 3d.; dairy cows, £15. \t l'alinor Koad on tho tamo ! day cuttle, wei'c penned in smaller numbers than usual, and wo report the 'following price? :-}'resh conditioned cows, £9 IBs. to £11 lis-; store cows, £6 9s. to £P 135.; yearling heifers, £3 12s. to £4 55.; ycarlin? bulls, £1 17s. to £4 10s.; wcancr pigs,' £1 55.; ojiringin? heifers, £10 to £19.
Also at Ngaerc we held a tucccssful clearing sale on account of Mr. It. H. Phillips in conjunction with Vfi. Newton King. High prices ruled throughout the sale. ])est dairy cows, £30 to £41; others, £20 to .£27; best springing heifers, £16 to £24; pedigree Jersey bull, 27gns.; sow and litter, £15 to £18; medium store pigs, £3 2s. 6d. to £3 7s. 6d.; boar, £2 .'O3. Mr. jlewton King, -New Plymouth, reports —At Douglas on' September 22 there was'a good entry, most of which changed hands at recent prices. Yearling heifers. £4 10s. to £5 2s. 6d.; smaller do., £3 3s. to £3 10a.; yearling steers (poor forts), £2 19s. to £3 lis.; two-year empty heifers, £6 15s. to £7 165.; three-year-old steers, £9 153.; dairy heifers, springing, £12 to £13; backward do., £7 10s. to £8 10s.; heifers (calved), £12;- dairy cows, £10 to £15; hoggets, 28s. 6d. At Stratford on September 23 there was a fair entry of store cattle, mostly consisting of younger sorts. Good cattlo sold well, poorer classcs prpviug rather hard of sole. The demand genorally was a shade easier compared with lato cnics. Mixed yearlings, £3 .to £4 4t. 6d,; yearling steers, £5; others, £2 10s. to £3 65.; heifers (choice), £6 10s.; others, £3 19s. to £4 175.; two-year empty lieifers, £7 4s. to £7 18s. 6d.; sma-ller do„ £o 12s. 6d. to £6 lis.; two-year-old steers, £7 2s. 6d. to £7 10s.; fat cows, £12 to £16; forward ! do.. £9 ss. to £10; stove do., £6 10a. to £8 !<Bb.; bulls. £7 to £9; (at ewes. £2; good ' boggets, 295.; others, 10s. to 21s. In the I dairy section cattle were icnned in excess of advertised l-vinbnn. the duality on the whole being rather poor, consequently prices we/e a. shade easier Well-grown heifera (close, up), £12 ,o £17 155.; poorerconditioned later sorts, £8 10b. to £10 10s.; heifers (calved), £9 10s. to £13 10s.; best cows (9])ringi'£)> £12 to £17; calved, £11 to £14.
