The second round of the New Zealand •Ladies' Golf Championship was played, to-day in fine weather, but witli a strong west wind. The following are the results: Mrs. Guy Williams (Masterton) beat Miss M. Tweed (Wellington),. 3 up and 2 to play; Miss E. N.' Wright (Timaru) beat Mrs. 31'C'arthy (Otago), i and 2; Mis. Slack (Hamilton) beat Miss R. Gorrie (Audkland), 7 and G; Mr£, Dargavillo (Auckland) beat Miss Moginie (Maungakiekie), 2 and'l; Miss M. Paytqn'(Auckland) beat Miss M. Alison (Auckland), 6 and 5; Mrs. D. Hay (Hamilton) beat Miss E. M. 'Upton (Auckland), i and 2; Mrs. Ganibrill.(Miramar) beat Mrs. Colin (Wellington), 4 and 3; Miss Snodgrass (Otago) beat Miss Cussen '(Hamilton), 3 and 2.
The following will play off to-morrow: Mrs. Guy Williams plays Miss Wright, Mrs. Slack plays Mrs. JDargaville, Miss M. Payton plays Mrs. D. Hay, Mrs. Gniiibrill plays Miss Snodgrass. Mrs. Guy Williams, of Masterton, the present holder of the championship., did sixteen'holes in SO. The first hole was halved and the second was won by Mrs. Williams, but Miss Tweed squared the next with five. Both were on the green at the fourth in 3. but Miss Tw-d )'H herself stymie and her opponent won, making her 1 .up. Mrs. AUlhams w\ih down in 5 at the fifth to'her opponent's 6, making tho former 2 up. At the sixth Miss Tweed out-drovo Mrs. Williams, and running her second within about seven feet of tho pin, went out in 4. Mrs. Williams was sliort with her second, ovcr-rnn the pin with her third, and holed out in 5, leaving her 1 up; Miss Tweed was short of tho green with her drive at the seventh, and her approach to the putt was too strong, leaving her a long putt for 3, which she failed to get. The holo was halved in •1. . At the eighth Miss Tweed was rather short in her drive and fluffed her third outside the bunker. Her fourth left her a long putt, which she ran home, and the hole was halved in 5. her opponent talking three putts. Miss Tweed got into trouble at the ninth with her third, and had to drop another ball, with a penalty. Her fifth #ent into the rushes, and she holed out in 7/' lo her opponents G, leaving Mrs. Williams 2 up at the turn. . Mrs. Williams won the tenth m 4. to her opponent's 5; and nt H>e eleventh Miss Tweed nut her tl""' 1 i" 1 " the Tamnki. Airs. Williams holed out in 5, making her 4 up. The tweiiin wait halved in five. Mrs. Williams ilm? a long ball slightly over the edge of the gully at the thirteenth, and her attemoi to play it out was not successful. Sho holed out in 6 ito her opponent's 3, leaving her ,3 up. They halved the fourteenth in (i and the fifteenth 'in 5, leaving Mrs. Williams dormy 3. The sixteenth was halved in well-played' 4's. giving Mrs. Williams tho match with 3 tin and 2 to play. , The Bnwy Handicap Matoh was won by Mrs. Dnriraville (Auckland), handicap 8, who finished 2 down. Mrs. Mnrchbanlts (Wellington) and Miss E. Culling 'Auckland) tied for second place. 3 down. Mrs. Marshbunk's handicap beiner 11 and Miss Tuning's 13. The next, best cards were: -Miss !B. Brown (Nanier) and Mies 'Pnrton (Wellington), handicap 9 each, i down.
