London, September 27. Obituary: Baroness Cederstrom- (AdoUna Putti), the prima douna.-Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.

rAdelina Patti (the Baroness Cederstrom) >as one of the world's great singers, and no soprano acquired such vocal prestige as Patti in her prime. She was the daughter of Salvatore Patti, a, member of a well-known Sicilian family, and Catcrina Cliiesa. an operatic artist, and was bom in Madrid in 1813. At tho ago of twenty-five she married the Marquis do Cans, in 1886 Signor NicoUni, and in 1899 Karon Cederstrom. She went, to New York with her parents as - a child, and was .educated there. She made her first appearance on the stageunder the management of her brotlier-in-law, M. Strakoseh, at Niblos Gardens, New York, at tho ai;o of seven, singing the two florid cavatnias, "Casta Diva" from "Norma" and "Una Voce from "11 Barbiere," afterwards favourite items in her repertoire. Her real debut was made, at the Academy of Music. New York, in 1859. when she sang sensationally, and was taken to London. She appeared for the first time at tho Roval Italian Opera, Covent Garden, in "La Sonnambula,"-in 1862, creating a furore with her brilliant singing and finished acting. She was equally successful the following year at the Grand Opera in Paris, after which she enjoyed trinmnhs in all the.leading cities of the Old World and in America, and was the recipient of decorations and gifts from the heads of Royal Families and Republics. She retired from the operatic t-tugc some years ago, but subsequent to that made a practice of giving an annual concert at tho Albert nail In London, which was always one of the events of the season. After she had celebrated her sixtieth' birthday, Patti received the offer of a fabulous sum of money to onco more tour tho United States, but she preferred the quiet retirement of Craig-y-Nos Castle in South Wales. She composed, the sons "On Parting" and i waltz entitled "Fior di Primavera."]
