AMENDMENT OF CONSTITUTION PROPOSED. Melbourne, September 27. In the House of Representatives Mr. W. M. Hughes gave notice df, the' introduction' of a Bill ,to amend ilio Constitution. A referendum will probably bo taken within two months of the passage of the Bill, and it is, now generally assumed that the elections will be held on the same date—Press Assn. . SURRENDER OF STATES' POWERS. (Rec. September 28, 5.5 p.m.) Melbourne, September 28. The conference of State Premiers and Ministers reached a tentative agreement for surrendering some of .the States' constitutional powers to the Commonwealth. Details are withheld.—Press Assn.
