MAN INJURED BY EXPLOSION. Bj Telegraph-Press Association. Greymouth, September 25. Charles Jl'Cauley, a single man, met with a painful accident at Hewanui this morning. lie was engaged on the work of driving in a tunnel, and was preparing a cap and fuse, when the cartridge exploded. He received severe injuries to eyes, head, and breast, and was removed to the hospital. DEATH OF A RETURNED SOLDIER. Napier, September 25. A returned soldier named Arthur Burns, died at the hospital this morning as the. result 'of injuries sustained through falling on the back of his head on the Marine Parade on Tueeday evening. He fractured his skull; but his condition was not considered serious till last evening, when ho was removed to the hospital. He returned from tlio war about two years ago.
