NEW BRITISH FOOD ORDER
CONTROLLED PRICES. (Rcc. September 25, 11.15 p.m.) London, September 24. Mr. C. A. M'Curdy, Parliamentary Secretary to tho Food Ministry, announces that a food order limits tho gross profits of retailers on fish, fruit, and vegetables to 331-.1 per. cent, "it is impossible to fix uniform prices for the whole country," he says. "Controlled prices must rapidly be adjustable to meet sudden fluctuations in cost. Therefore, tho Government is empowering local committees to regnlnto the retail prices in their own districts. The new order will operate on September 29 in certain Midland areas."—Aue.-N.Z. Cablo Assn.
