RETURNED SOLDIERS' AFFAIRS
Sir,—From recent - happenings it is quite apparent that a wroDg-hended faction is seeking to'gain a controlling voice in tlio affairs of the Returned Soldiers Association. The irony of the . situation is that a great deal of the "grousing" is dono by men who were not-sol-diers of their own free will, but were forced into tho Army at a critical" period of the w-YT; Unless strong measures aro tnlcen to counteract the disrupting inuueuco of these malcontents it is obvious that tho days of the association will'be numbered: the association mil have been killed not by tho actions of, the bar number" men, but by tho insidious methods of those Whoso regimental numbers run in tho Tegion or tho /0 and 80,000' c! —''truck numbers." to my mind there is one way of' meeting the difficulty. I suggest that in, ballots on all important questions affecting tlio very life of tho 'Returned Soldiers' Association, those members who earn produce evidence that they volunteered to go to the war shall have two votes, and thai men ivh'o went by compulsion shall havo only one. This may sound unfair to the married conscript, but it has to bo remembered that there were scores of married volunteers. Anyhow it is tho sino'le conscript malcontent that we want to get at, and if my proposal were' put into operation I do not think there would be much to fear regarding the future welfare of tho Returned Soldiers AssoNation. —I am, cjuj., A "UUCKSHEE" VOTE.
