With a view to the prepartaion of the programme and compilation of rules Mid instructions for the 1920 annual rifle prize meeting, the chief executive officer (Col-onel-R. J. Collins. (J.M.G.) has askod the members of the committee of ■ the D.R.R. to send him, as soon as possible, any suggestions they-desire to matte in connection" with the forthcoming meeting lyliich may go to improve the programme in the way of prizes, conditions, additional matches, or alterations of rules and instructions in order that ,a satisfactory programme for the next championship meeting may be-assured. The importation, of new .rifles or new barrels for competitors is a matter for the Defence Department to deal with, and that should be done at once. 'i'ho balance-sheet of last meeting shows thai competitor* contributed .£lll2 for entrv fees and messing, the Government subsidising.'it by a gra.it of .£looo.' The prizes paid amounted to XIIOG, and cost of messing (competitors and markers), .£376; wages of markers, etc., ,£312; printing and stationery, JCBG; postage and telegrams', -C2O; sundries. Mi. The officers on the staff gave their services, as' usual, gratuitously. Ammunition, railway tickets, and camp equipment were found by the Government. The cost of Tunning tho Trentham rifle meeting is very smallcompared with other like' meetings of tho Empire, the utmost economy being exercised by those concerned in its management.
