' EXPANSION OF EXPORTS.. Statistics of the oversea trade of the Commonwealth for Juno have been mado available.' As that mouth closes the fiscal year 1918-19, it is possible to comparo the operations of the twelve months with jthose of the previous year,. subject to certain restrictions forced upon the Customs authorities by tho exigencies of war. Taking the June figures alone imports exceed exports to tho extent of ■£G58,380,' whereas for the corresponding month in 1918 exports showed u surplus 'of .1*80,132. • The aggregate trade of the year 1918-19,' however, shows, great expansion, due to the control : of tonnage and to. the enhancement 'of values of uiu , wool and grains. Exclusive of gold, information about which cannot he disclosed, imports for 1918-19 amounted to J&l,485,050, and exports to .£1Ge,805,955, iis compared with imports of Aii0.822,161, and exports of ,£70,035,222 in 1917-18.
