SHOOTING AFFRAY
' ; « RETURNED SOLDIER WOUNDED. Br T<"lezran'n.~Prpe» Aironlntlon. Gisborno, September 22. A sensational shooting affray occurred on Saturday night. A returned soldier liQined Alfred Eastwood and another man named Wlriteley saw a man named Thomas Lines carrying some timber, which they believed he had taken from the sewerage works in the vicinity. They asked him where lie was taking it to, and Innes, it is alleged, retorted, "If you don't §ct away 1 will shoot you," and, producing a revolver, shot Eastwood in the groin. Passers-by bailed Lines up against a fence, and, relieving him of the weapon, detained him till the police arrived, when he was arrested on charges of theft and causing bodily harm. Eastwood's injuries, it is believed, will not prove serious.
