AT AUCKLAND, The Shaw-Savil'l steamer Karamea arrived at Auckiuiid on Saturday from London, via the Capo. The vessel is duo at'Wellington'about thu end of this week. For Homo the vessel loads at New Plymouth, Waitara, Nelson, Wanganui, and Wellington. THE ESSEX. Tho F. and S. -dteamer Essex is at present loading ti,r Homo at Waitara. The vessel, which is in ballast, brought out a draft of returning troops. She left London on August 6, and at FJymou.h embarked 379 troops, 55 wives, 9 naval units, and 12 Imperial' troops, sailing on August 8. Norfolk (Ya.) was reached on August 18, and tho vessel bunkered there, sailing on August 23. She ' arrived at Panama on September 4, and passed through the. Canal the following day. A fine trip was experienced all the voyage. Five days before reaching Wellington a man was lost overboard, and though tho ship was stopped for a couple of hourt no trace could be found of him. HOROEATA FROM LONDON. The New Zealand Shipping Company's Hororata, which arrived i'rom London on Friday evening, berthed on Saturday morn: ing to disembark her troips and to commence discharge. Tho Tessel loaded at Londca, and left there on July 26 for Plymouth, where she embarked troops. Plymouth Waß left on July 28, and a fine trip was ojpericnced to Capo Town, where she arrived on August 17. As (hero was no coal available at thai, port the vessel sailed tho following day for Durban, where she arrived on August 21. 'l'hero she loaded 3600 tonß of bunkerß, and sailed on August 27. Gales were experienced in 45deg. latitude. Hobart was reached on September 13, and 232 toas of cargo was discharged theer. Slio left the Tasmanian port last Monday evening, and had an exceptionally fine trip across the Tasman, averaging 14.1 'knots. An "arrival in port yesterday waß the small steamer Hina from Nelson, which has como across to bo resheathed with totara. Tho vessel is owned by the Golden Bay Shipping Oompanj, and is engaged in the Nelson, Collingwood, Wititapu, and Tarakohe trade. Captain A. IS. Burt is in command and Mr. W. Watson is engineer. Tho Hina was formerly the Lady ■ Barkly, and took :?art in tho Wnikato Maori War. . The Kahika is to return to New Plymouth to-day. The three-illasted schooner Abemama has been chartered to load ;i cargo of hardwood and piles for New Zealand. She will take a timber cargo from New Zealand to Sydney. Tho Katoa, which arrived yesterday* from Westport with a part cai-go of coal, is to procecd on to Auckland on Wednesday to put out the balance. On Saturday tho Kokiri was still barhound at Greymouth. To-night the To Anau iB r-eheiluied to leave Gisborne for Wellington. On Wednesday she will proceed on to Dunedin. The Rosamond is to leave to-day for Lyttelton, wHero she is to load for Nelson and New Plymouth. /To-day the Poherua, is to sail for Westport and Greymouth. taking c.'irgo. On Thursday the I'utiki is due back from Gisborne, when she will again load for Napier nnd Gisborne'' To-day tho Koutunui is due from Napier. The vessel is to load for the Enst Coast, sailing to-morrow.
