MAGISTRATE'S COURT

A short sitting of the Magistrates Court was held on Saturday morning, Mr. E. Page. S.M., presidea, and dealt with police cases. . The owner of the pyjamas nappencd to be in the cabin, and immediately 'proceeded to investigate, and tound the accused with tho garments, lie pleaded guilty to tho charge, of,theti, and was fined- °£5, in default -deven days imprisonment. , , A roadman named Abel Collier pleaded guilty to a charge of being an ldlo olid disorderly person withm the meaning of the Police Offences Act, in that he habitually consorted with reputed thieve?, and ho was also charged with failing to provide for his child, who wan in a Government home, the arrears amounting to a considerable sum. On tho bp--ond charge he was ordered to pay r ; per week, and also to pay <&i towards the arreai-s. On tihe first charge b'. wa6 convicted, and ordered to como up for sentence when called upon within a period of twelve months. For insobriety a first offender who failed to appear had his bail of 10s. forfeited. . ■
