Tho revonuc and expenditure of tho Railway Working Account from April 1 to August IG, and for tho corresponding period of 1918, published in thp Gazette, show that tho revenue totalled .£2,026,413. as compared with .£1,872,574 last year, and tho expenditure amounted to J!1,353,394, as against X1.22G.041, the percentage of revenue being 03.27 per cent, against 05.47 per cent. The number of passengers carried increased by 2113. and of season ticket holders by 4894. Tbo decreaso was large (157,624) in second-class passengers using return tickets. Tho i number of livo stock carried was 2,839,910, against 2,858,5(19, a. decreaso of 18,059. There was an increase of 0314 tons in tiio quantity of timber carried,. and a decrease of 109,480.t0ns of minerals. In tbo aggregate, the goods traffic exhibited n shrinkage of 29,280 tons.
