MR. SIDEY DECIDES TO STAND

AGAIN. By Telcirraph—Press Association. Dunedin, September lb. Yielding to pressure exerted on liim, Mr. T. K. Sidey lias decided' to be a candidate for the Dunedin South seat at tho general election.

The Prime Minister stated in the House of Representatives yesterday that the elections would probably be hold in the first or second week in December, and that Parliament would have, to remain in session until November 1, or perhaps a day or two later. This, as he pointed out, would allow of an election campaign of five or six weoks. | It is understood, says an exchange, that Mr. Robert Horn blow, Mayor of Dnrgarille and proprietor of the- "North Auckland Times," will opposo Mr. C. J. Parr, for the Eden seat at the coining election. In 1911 Mr. Hornblow opposed the present.Minister of Lands, the Hon. D. 11. Guthrie, in Qroua, polling 2031 votes to his opponent's 3176. _ In 1911 ho contested Raugitikei in opposition to Mr. E. Newman, when he was defoated by 901 votes. Mr. Hornblow is a nativo of Wellington, and before going to Dargavillo was proprietor of the "Mangaweka Settler." , Mr. G. P. Alridge, who has. been spoken of as a candidate for tho Napier seat at the forthcoming general election, has decided that ho cannot contest tho seat. .

• Mr. E. C. Banks, of Matamata, and chairman' of the Auckland Education Board, who recently announced that he would be a candidate for tho Rotorua seat, has stated that he will stand as an Independent. At a meeting of Liberals held in Hastings recently Mr. Gilbert M'Kay was nccopted as the candidate for the Hawke's Bay seat in tho Liberal and Labour interests at the forthcoming general election. Mr. G. M'Kay has been selected as the Liberal candidate for tho Hawkes Bay set at the general elections.
