EXPORT OF GOLD
The Hon. H. L. Michel recently asked in the Legislative' Coincil whether tho Government would consider granting somerelief to the gold miners; of New. Zealand on account of certain restrictions placed at present upon them. The Hon. Sir Francis Bell yesterday replied as follows:—"The Imperial Government is aware rlw: gold has been sellinir in advanco of the standard value in snmo countries. Restrictions upon tho exnort of eold havo be:n imposed since the outbreak of war, partly in comnliar.ee with Ihe requirements of the Tmoerial Government, and partly for the security of finance in Nsw Zealand. Tho Imperial Government's requirements have been recently annulled, and the question being therefor." reduced to tho simple matter of New Zealand finance, it. is honed that oil restrictions upon the exnort of gold bullion may be removed at an early dale. The restrictions upon the export of gold coins will, however, be continued.".
