THE COMMANDEER
Sir,--Now is Iho time for thq Farmers' Conference to discuss and make its voice hoard re the commandeer, and re the .surplus money owing on wool' Iholisands of us who cannot attend the confereneo look to those who do to watch our interests, and speak on their, own and our behalf. Tho farmers in this country have been robbed of their just value for their produce far years, wool has been vising steadily smco the war, and what price are wo getting?—ls. tor best, against between Js. aij.l ss. per lb. when sold in London. Instead of
talking so much about land values, the conference should tackle this commandeer question, and liiul out among other tilings when the surplus wool money is to be paid'to us. Host of. us are hardworking men, and not philanthropists. We still have a ill) per cent), super land tax to meet, not to mention the exorbitant demands of 'sheaivrs and shed
hands, so iny advice to the conference is: get at.the commandeer qu-ustioii,. and tho congestion of meat question, and dont leave these matters drift any longer. «y solving lliem you are doing more good to the country than you are by discussing the prjeo of land, etc.—l am, etc., . A PRODUCER.
