The congestion at the ports continues to attract attention, particularly the accumulation of foodstuffs in tho Mersey. The Harbour Board states that there are 55,460 boxes of bacon on tho quay at Liverpool, worth fifteen million sterling. Tho board says that the Government is responsible, as the board warned the Ministry for Pood that congestion was inevitable if the quantises foreshadowed wero received. _ J The traders charge the Ministry with causing high prices by unbusinesslike methods, and also declare that millions sterling have ton wasted through depreciation- and tainted bacon since the Food Control was resumed on August 9. Mr. Roberts (Pood Controller) denies that there has been waste, and declares that tho bacon at the ports does not belong to the Ministry.
