NOTES AND COMMENTS
(By Glencoe.) At tho conclusion of the racing at Dannevirke on Wednesday a heavy storm came on, and the course got ill such n stato that it was deemed advisable to postpone the second day's races. The Tatters-all's Meeting, which is to open at Bandwiek to-morrow, is. expected to see some of the New Zealand contingent in actiou. Several of them will ho entered for the Chelmsford Stakes, nine furlongs, and one or two of them may be given a run in the handicaps. Last year Gleaming won tho race in qucstion. ... , _. i\ J. M'Flmn was riding at. Dannevirke on the opening day, but he could not wait for the postponed gathering, as lie had made other contracts to ride nt tho Pnkurauga Hunt Club's Meeting, which lakes place at Ellerslio to-morrow. The Papuranga Hunt Club Comiuiltoo has arranged for a parade of two-year-olds on Saturday, when it is expected that somo fifteen youngsters will bo spurted. - ~. Mr. F. S. Butherford's Davos gelding. Jingo, was shipped north by the Mokoia on Saturday. He is not a sound horse, and for that reason is hard to train on ordinary tracks. He will go into C. Morse's'stnble at Gisborne. whero he will have the advantage of a beach to work on. Jingo is a speedy customer, and, as most of his sire's progeny have improved with he should do well this season if he becomes sound. If Rigiivjsian starls in tho Ladies' Bracelet at Dannevirke he will touch a short price. He is a fine .big gelding and can gallop very well. As he considers Spcochmaker to be backward, F. Davis will probably give both he and First Blow a race in the Trial Plate at Dannevirke. The Litter is a. filly, and raced twice last season. The opposition to the bracket is very weak. The locally owned Pose Pink will have plenty of supporters in the Orinpi Handicap, in which she meets The Sneaker on 121b. better iernis than was the ease on Wednesday. Hose Pink will probably be all the better for the race sho had in the Spring Handienp.
