The annual contest for the Phuket Modal, held under tho auspices of lifio Victoria University . Collego Debating Society, will bo held on Saturday evening, in' tho Concert Chnmbor. This i 3 tho first occasion eipco 1913 on which this contest has been held in tho Concert Chamber, and it is hoped Ithat tho society will find itself/ justified in thus resuming tho pre-war conditions of the contest. This year's sprakers, with their subjects, aro as follow: —J. M'J'heg ("Sir ■luluis Vogel"), J. Davidson ("'Eugene V. Dibs"), TV, A. Sherd; ("Mazzini"), C. G. Kirk ("General Gordon"), A. -B. Croke ("Hannibal"), G. S. Troup ("Sir AVnlter Raleigh"), A. M. Cousins ("Abraham Lincoln"), F. Uaigh ("John Redmond"). Their Excellencies thq Governor-General and tho Countess of Liverpool will attend, and at tho oloso of tho contest His Excellency will present tiho medal to tho successful contestant.
