. To-inorrow at Miramar the Wellington cl'oss-coimtry championsliip and teams' race will toko place. Owing to most of the harrier club members answering l the call to duty'■and joining "up with, the Forces, the race has not been run since 1915. ThoWhyto and Mockay shield, which goes to the winning team, i 3 now held by tho Brooklyn Harriers. The first raco for the shield was held in 1303, when the Wellington Harriers' team were successful in winning it. XL'he team then consisted of W. H. Pollock, J. S.Caldow, F. Williams, and the late Major Fleming Boss. Other namesjjell known to the public on the shield are: J. 11. Prendeville, J. Bradbury, J. 11. Byrne, W. Bennett, and N. Cummjngs. The last three, members of'tho New Zealand Expeditionary Forces, have made tho supreme sacrifice. ■ The Mayor of Miramar will start tho competitiors off on their five-mile run at 8 o'clock.
