TRAM FARES RAISED

-'--. ON .KARORI SECTION. The Karori Borough Council decided last evening to raise, the fare on its tramways. The section from Botanical Gardens to Northland is to be abolished, and Johnston Streot made the first sec l tion. and the fare' 2d. ' Concession tickets.at,lßd. for twelve will be available. The fares - on the other sections are to remain as' at present, and workers' concession tickets will be unchanged. The advance will fall very heavily on Northland residents, especially those who board the tram at the Government Buildings, for thev will have to pay the extra charge on tho. single section on the city line, and the extra charge now made .by Karori on its section of line from the Gardens to the tunnel. With concession tickets for both lines it will moan paying 23d. The discussion disclosed the fact that the borough was obliged to make tho increased charge because of the increased cost, and the addition has been made on the Northland section because it happens to. be the longest section on the Karori line. The increased fare is to come into force on October 1.
