HOTEL WORKERS

An application for increased wages is to bo filed under the War Legislation Act against the hotelkeepers in Wellington, for the next silting of the Arbitration Court. It has al.'-o been decided that claims bo made on the private hotel and restaurant-keepers similar to those recently made oil the employers in the country. Some time back the employers in hotels, private hotels, and restaurants, and tea rooms, were asked fur a conference to discuss the matter o: the proposed inciease in wages. The public and private hcfelkcepors declined to agree to tho conference, stilting that they considered tho wa'ges now paid to be ample and sufficient. The restaurant-keepers and tho representatives of the employees met in conference, but subsequently tho former refused any increase jf wages.
