MEETING OF THE BOARD. By Telezranh—l'rcJß Association. Christcliurch, September 5. The board of the New Zealand Trotting Association nut to-day. Mr. P. Selig was re-elected president for tho twenty-second year by the unanimous voto of the board,' and in returning thanks said ho hoped that during tho coming year clubs would get their proper duo in the way of totalisator permits. Mr. H. F. Nicoll was elected vice-presi-dent. Applications for registration from tho Methven and Masterton Trotting Clubs were held over pending replies to com. niunieations forwarded by the board. In regard to the Taranaki Trotting Club's application for permission to race on February 7, it was decided to ask the Dates Committee of the conference for an expression of opinion as to whether the club should race on the date mentioned in view of tlm South Wairarapa meeting on February 5. It was decided to inform the Cromwell Jockey Club that a minimum of J.'lis per race must be adhered to, that optional races would not ho permitted, and that so far as tha rules of trotting were concerned tho club was at liberty to put more than two {rotting ovents on its pro. gramme. It was agreed, in view of the fact that tho association had already declined to allow the inclusion of trotting events on tho programme of another West Coast club racing on Boxing Day, that permission could not bo granted the Westland Racing Club to include trotting events in its programme now; that if the dates were altered to avoid clashing with tlie West-port Trotting Club, tlie association would lie prepared to consider favourably the application from the Westland Racing Club. The Canterbury Owners and Breeders' Association asked for a ruling as to fa intention of Rule UKa, relative to tho renomination of horse.-;, and it was decided t'o circularise clubs drawing- their attention to tho rule and to inform the Breeders' Association that the provision was now incorporated in the rules of trotting.
